Orta San Giulio (Òrta in Piedmontese and Lombard) is an Italian town of 1 136 inhabitants in the province of Novara in Piedmont. It is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy[5] and is awarded the orange flag by the Italian Touring Club.
Orta is located in the middle of the eastern shore of Lake Orta, at the end of a hilly promontory that slopes down to the shore, 45 kilometers from the capital Novara.
The main nucleus of the town is located on the lakeshore in front of the island of San Giulio, also part of the municipality, while halfway up the hill behind stands the hamlet of Legro. The hamlet of Imolo consists of a few houses overlooking the lake, along the course of the state road 229 in the direction of Gozzano, while the small nucleus of Corconio is located a few kilometers further south, hidden from the road, on a terrace about fifty meters above lake level.
